Suffering from Inertia

I feel like I need to write. It’s an itching, restless feeling in my heart that I get when I’m not writing. However when this feeling occurs I am usually too drained and tired from the day’s activities to do anything to satisfy this urge. I simply roll over and go to sleep, succumbing to the weakness of my body even as my mind remains active and unhappy with what I’m NOT doing. I know that itchy tingling are the hundreds of books I’m meant to write, but sadly this money-driven world we live in will not allow me to pursue my passion the way I want to. So I must put the neglected characters of my novels back in their beds and try my best to ignore the frosty silence of their disappointment. It is a sad day when the need for money leaves you too tired to pursue your need for art.

Sooo sorry for the long hiatus, but I am nearing the last two weeks of school before I’m a Hampton University graduate. There aren’t enough hours in the day to eat and sleep, never mind stay on top of the piles of work I’m trying to dig myself out of. Even still, I can’t help but feel good because this is it! Four years gone, just like that! Hopefully I will have more time to blog after this crazy phase is over. Until then, here’s my catch up barrage of blogs!

Yep. I bought another notebook. Now I am at 51. I have a video to post, sharing my extensive notebook collection, but the University internet is slower than molasses in Antarctica. I know I have a problem, an addiction, and now I’m turning it over to anyone who can help me.

Chop Chop!

A lot of things happen on a whim. Deciding that you want to eat out for dinner on a late Wednesday night, choosing the purple drapes over the hot pink ones, buying a new outfit, getting married even. On Thursday morning of Spring Break 2010, spent at home in Easton, Maryland, on a whim I decided to cut off all of my hair.

For those who know me, two years ago I cut off my hair but I kept it relaxed (chemicaled up to keep it all straight and pretty). This time I cut it off, and I’m letting it go natural. What does this mean? It means no more relaxer kits, or hours spent at the hairdressers, or blow-drying and flat-ironing the night before class. Now, I wake up and get my hair wet (when before I would make sure every last strand was tucked securely under a shower-cap) shampoo and condition, let it drip dry and walk out the door. Why in the world did I ever go through all that trouble before?

I know that this doesn’t have much of anything to do with writing…but in the vein of doing things on a whim, like creative writing is so often done, I feel like this is something to blog about.
